Though multidisciplinary in medium and intent, at the heart of it, my work explores the power of narrative vessels and our complex, internal compasses. We navigate through our world through systems of belief: in our place in things, in how others see us, and in how we generate personal identity and a sense of belonging. Whether serious or playful, buoyant or thoughtful, imaginary or the merely perceived, I work to create sense of my interactions, and document the ways we engage the world around us in influential, altering ways.

M Kelley is a maker, doer, thinker, writer, curator, illustrator, painter, designer, builder, tinkerer, designer, dreamer, laugher, happier living in Nashville and open to conversation. An advocate for dialogue in contemporary art, Kelley is an active contributor to a variety of diverse publications and arts initiatives, curates for the project space 40AU, and works with Platetone Printmaking, Paper and Book Arts. Her social practice, as both artist and curator, revolves around providing educational and developmental opportunities to artists and audiences alike; a fascination with the complexities of communication and narrative; and inviting others into collaboration, curiosity, and cross-pollination.
