Katie Gonzalez first studied the art of bookbinding in Cortona, Italy during the summer of 2006. Visiting a medieval bindery, working with luxurious materials, and learning to make paper by hand instilled a sense of traditional techniques into her work. She blends historical binding styles with a contemporary design aesthetic and unusual materials to create functional and beautiful handbound books. Katie runs her own bindery, linenlaid&felt, from her home studio in East Nashville, where she lives with her husband and her brindle bullmastiff.
